This looks really interesting and funny, great central theme and mechanic, looking forward to giving it a go. Can I get some guidance on implementation? In the given sample session, I guess a lot of the checks would be for
-looking for clues (would that be trying to fail a promo check?)
-interrogating suspects (would that be trying to succeed a promo check? Or fail? Or is it more just about the flavour of the outcome than whether on not they achieve getting the useful info?)
...but perhaps there's not many situations where physical feats would prompt wrestling checks (and this might apply to quite a few of the funniest non-wrestling situations they find themselves in)? Any tips for crowbarring those in?
(Oh, and, not sure if this is an error but "Did you not want to suplex the cat out of the tree? Then you better hope to roll a 4 or lower" - shouldn't that be "3 or lower" if 4 or higher is success?)
Thanks! :)
Good questions!
Yes, most of the searching for clues/interrogation rolls would likely be Promo- but I tried to really get players to describe HOW they were looking for clues- I had a player roll Wrestling to check under a piece of furniture for example. Sometimes you'll catch players in a specific wording and exploit it to comedic effect. "I unroll the last will and testament of the deceased" "Roll wrestling to make sure you don't rip it to shreds"
As for if you feel a roll should Succeed or Fail for the players to get what they want, that's mostly up to the GM- whatever the table would think is funnier.
Also- good call on that 3 or Lower thing, total typo. I'll update that right away. Thank you!!
Brilliant, cheers for the response, that makes sense - I'll give this a spin as soon as the current state of the world permits getting the right group together :)
